SOCIAL ACTIVITIES AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

LEADERSHIP TRAINING
Giving participants the chance to become a leader within their group. Individuals who are interested in leadership program can express to their mentor. Their mentor can refer mentee to the leader training class.

Walking To Success Community Services offer programs to better help Detroit and Metro Detroit. WTSCS provides programs that will offer services for parents and their child to help empower their lives individually and as a family. We offer mentoring services for females (grades 7th-10th grade), parenting workshops and resources to provide the community seminars/resources work shops coming SOON. The purpose of this organization is to help inspire and empower the community and strengthen the family dynamic. We will be offering programs in the Fall of 2016 for teenagers 15-17, more educational support and more family focused trips.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH
AND ADVOCACY
Mentees will visit nursing homes, clean up local parks in their neighbordhood and learn the importance of community service. Which ultimately makes the mentee a better citizen and take pride in their community, their generation and the world.

YOUTH-LED DISCUSSIONS AND WORKSHOPS
Mentees who take part in leadership training will have the opportunity throughout the year to lead a discussion with youth groups and parent groups.
Engages, empowers, and inspires youth to successfully manage their finances. Financial Literacy Training helps youth develop competency in math, fiscal responsibility and the ability to handle day-to-day financial decision-making.
CHARACTER AWARDS
Communication with youth is all about inspiring and empowering parents on effective ways to talk to preteens/ teenagers. Communication is a major part of any relationship. We believe at WTSCS that if a person can effectively communicate they can enhance their life.
LEADERSHIP TRAINING
EMPOWERED PARENTS SEMINAR
Parents/ Guardians will have a chance to speak to a nurse, law enforcement, accountant, job placement information and various other informative presenters will come to talk to parents within the community.
Promotes positive self-image, self-control, self-confidence and self-discipline in youth ages 11-14. Youth recognized for their positive character traits such as self-determination, honesty, compassion, trustworthiness, and respect.
CHARACTER EDUCATION
Character Education will have monthly segments on teaching youth about good character traits. These monthly sessions will include but are not limited to acceptance, resilience, perseverance, honesty, and integrity.
Mentees who usually go with the "in crowd" or may not seem sure of themself or for mentees who want to be more of a leader will be interested in this program. We offer leadership training workshops.
CRITICAL THINKING
MOMENTS
Critical Thinking Moments assists youth in improving their social skill competence, anger control, and moral reasoning. Additionally, Critical Thinking Moments prepares youth to serve as peer mentors and trainers in positive approaches to controlling anger.
CAREER CRUISING
Different managers from various companies will speak to community about what employers are looking for on interviews, resume specialist to offter help with resumes, dress for success displays and community will be emailed regarding local job/transportation opportunites.
EMPOWER PARENTS AND
MENTEES UNITE
Mentees and their parent/guardian will have ample opportunity to engage such as game nights, seminars and different activities that will open communication and help maintain healthy relationships.
